Anticipating changes soon...

There have been no changes, but we are busy working on the design for the interior. Choices, choices, choices!! We will be having measurements done next week for the master bedroom closet, the hobby room, and our new office. When there is something to show, believe me, I will show it!

New Look for the Blog

I have moved this blog over to Google's Blogger, that is why it looks different and all the dates for the posts have changed.

I like this look better and hope you do too.

We are working on designing the interior of the house, no new photos to share as of yet.

Race Deck Floors

We got race deck flooring in both garages, here are the before and after photos:

The garage floors are finally due to arrive

The racedeck flooring is scheduled to be installed on Monday. Today I hosed down/brushed out the garage floor in preparation. Before/After photos will be posted after the installation.

Our house is famous!

You can see two photos of our house up on the Castle Painting website if you click on the Photos link. Ours is the third row down.

A Final Shout Out To...

Castle Painting and Roman Dudziec.
I am not exaggerating when I say that four neighbors have already come by asking Roman about the colors; I guess they saw what a great job he did on our house and now they want theirs to look better too. Kevin wants to keep our house colors a closely guarded secret, but that is probably not possible. We did work very hard to get just the right color, so you can understand his not wanting to give it up so easily!

Exterior Paint Complete!

I love to drive by the house since it looks so great now that the painting is complete. Take a look:

Do you want to compare it again to what it looked like when we bought it? Ok, here is the house in its former color:

Window comparison

Here is the front window without the shutter and with it. What a difference!

And this is the final look before the scaffolding comes down:

Almost finished with the exterior

The final painting should be done this weekend and the scaffolding will come down by Tuesday. The shutters are worth the wait, as the quality is much better than the old. But judge for yourself:

Also today was the day that Nicholas and Chris from Spectrum came over to do their initial interior measurments. Now we have to wait for the CAD drawings to be completed.

This "hurry up and wait" part is the hardest.

The shutters have been shipped!

I got notice that the shutters were shipped on May 27th and should arrive this week.

Attention to detail

Here is the state of the house, colorwise:

But you must check it out up close to really appreciate Roman's attention to detail.
Below is in the entranceway looking back towards the street:

And look how the texture of the main column comes out with both of the color tones being used:

Lastly, all the other houses on the street have an abrupt paint color change where the shape of the wall changes, but Roman has followed the frame of our garage with its highlight color, which is more aethetically pleasing. See below:

I hope to pick up the "cathedral" garage window panels tomorrow.

New and Improved Front Door

The old doors and shutters were green for some unknown reason. That is a thing of the past now that our doors have been painted with a delightful color called SW2708. The shutters will be the same color, however the new ones have yet to arrive. Here is a photo of the open front door.

I also took the opportunity to set up my drums in one of the empty rooms. I took them down about a year ago since there was really no room for them, so it will be nice to get back to the banging. Besides, nothing says "Hello new neighbors!" quite like me practicing the drums.

First Color!

Now the house is beginning to take shape! The lighter of the two shades is what you see here. There will be a darker shade for the bottom and the columns.
Tomorrow the door should be painted. The shutters would be painted too, but the new ones have not arrived yet.

Garage door panels, should we care?

See the little windows on the garage doors? That design is called Sunset. We like the one called Cathedral better. But do we really care that much? I guess so. Since the snap-in panels with the design came off for the painting, it's a perfect time to make the change without buying a whole new garage door. So we ordered the Cathedral design. Now we just have to hope they will arrive in time to get painted along with the garage doors.

On another note, today might be the day we finalize the paint color. We know the color we want, we just have to get the paint to be an exact match. Roman from Castle Painting and Decorating Service will be painting on the samples today for us to review.

The Interior...The final frontier

We have chosen Spectrum Fine Homes as our home designers. Nicholas from Spectrum gave us some large binders filled with photos of interiors. We are going through them with color coded post-it notes marking what we love and what we hate.

Racing against the threat of rain

The forcast keeps calling for rain, but Roman (our painter) seems to know not to believe it. Here is the house with the primer coat. Don't worry, it is not going to be white.

Let the painting begin

We found the most fabulous painter! He is the owner of Castle Painting and you won't find a more thorough professional. After the scaffolding went up, we knew we were really beginning our transformation.

We Bought a New House

We found a house close to where we live, more than twice the size of our current home. When we both saw it, we knew it was the one. Thanks to our realtor extraordinaire Velle, we prevailed over all other bids and got our new place.
